tour goods: twice in one week! wow! i'm on a roll!

this is the last post for the first floor, yea! here you will see some of the back hall, bathroom and family room. (go here to see more.)

back hall and powder room:
this part of the house looks completely different. newly finished original floors (used to be carpet) and fresh paint (used to be floral wallpaper.) i absolutely love this shade of blue and if i didn't have so many other projects in my own home i would repaint my kitchen this color. the door with the mirror is a coat closet.

this is the downstairs powder room. new additions here are the red paint and tartan carpet.

family room:
through the back hall and adjacent to the red powder room is the family room. this room is probably the most unchanged. carpet was removed to expose original wood floors that were refinished, other than that the room is just about how it's been my whole life. this is where we ate dinner as a family every night and where we watched episodes of the cosby show and family ties. my dad would hurry to the drive through down the street during commercial breaks and get klondike bars for us to eat during the shows. it was a thursday night ritual.

all of the paintings in this room were painted by my brother jamie.
the wool tartan drapes are not original to the house but they have been there for at least 50 years.

next up is the second floor! i am trying really hard to get through all of these pictures before christmas. stay tuned...

  3. theresa, my camera is a nikon d50 and the lense i'm using is a nikon af-s nikkor 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 g ed. (whatever that means!) i really can't take any credit for the quality of my pictures. i have no idea what i'm doing. i just point and shoot and every now and then i try and take it off auto. ha! one of these days i hope to have the time to learn how to really use it!

  4. Elizabeth, I just bought a Nikon D3000 which took the place of the D40. I can't wait to learn how to use and and start taking better pictures. I also want to sign up for a photography class.
