terry haas goods: ask HGTV's expert YOUR questions on bovagoods!

yep,  terry haas.....from HGTV....is my friend......

we just met a couple of months ago...but she is the real deal.

so nice.
so funny.
so real.
so good.

so, of course i had to get her on bovagoods!

actually, she offered before i even had to ask.
she pretty much rocks.

terry is a partner in a charleston area real estate group, she has her own home staging consulting business, and recently co-wrote a downloadable ebook.

but most people know her for her recurring role on the HGTV show "designed to sell".
she is one of the expert real estate agents the show brings on to talk about the good, the bad and the ugly.

 terry is brilliant at this.

watch her in action in this "designed to sell" episode called "snap"

and here she is again in a great interview that our local news station did with her:

i was fortunate enough to be able to watch her at work a few weeks ago.

my friend susan won a free consultation with terry. lucky girl!  so, terry came to her house and spent two hours telling susan and her husband, the good. the bad. the ugly. susan's house is adorable so there wasn't too much bad or ugly.  i begged susan to let me come along. she said yes. what an awesome friend.

(terry LOVED susan's kitchen. what's not to love? her only suggestion was to add granite counter-tops. even though susan has beautiful solid surface counters- some buyers will immediately reject a home because of no granite. and because susan and her husband aren't planning on moving soon, they can make this investment now and know that it will pay off in the end.)

it was so fun to watch terry in action.

(yep, terry even looked through susan's cabinets. and buyers will too!)

she also told them how to:

stage their home
improve curb appeal
make low-cost improvements that will help to sell their property at top dollar
what big dollar improvements are worth the money

susan and her husband aren't planning on moving any time soon, so terry discussed with them what improvements would bring them the most money in the future.

(susan's home has an amazing backyard complete with a ginormous live oak tree. so so pretty. terry loved it and suggested that they build a huge patio to extend the square footage of their home.)

thanks again, susan for letting me tag along on this special day!

(susan and terry)

do you wish that you too could have a little one on one time with terry?

you can!

terry has graciously offered to answer YOUR questions here on bovagoods!
so, ask away!!!
anything you want to ask....even the personal stuff. (she said it's ok.)

~man cave vs. outdoor patio?
~do we really need to remove family photos when selling?
~who is your favorite person on HGTV?
~how do you keep from getting discouraged in this real estate market we are in?
~where do you film?
~are you really friends with elisabeth or is she just saying that? (heehee...)

feel free to steal any of these questions and ask them yourself....i just wanted to give you all a few ideas to get the ball rolling....

i know you will come up with some great questions for her.

you can leave your questions in the comment section of this post or email them to me at

bovagoods@gmail.com

all questions will be entered into a drawing for a free copy of terry's new ebook,  make every buyer want your house.

if you want, ask more than one question for more than one entry. just send a separate email or leave a separate comment for each question.

but wait! there's more! (haha....i sound like an infomercial!)

terry has offered $5 off the purchase of her ebook to all of my readers. she is great, isn't she? come back to bovagoods and read terry's answers and i'll give you the details.

ok, bovagoods readers....don't let me down!

ask away!!!!

  2. Hi Elisabeth and Terry!

Are wood decks out of style? Should I plan on a brick patio vs a wood deck?

    Thanks
    Teresa

  4. Elisabeth! Terry! You are both AMAZING! Thank you both for doing this.

Here is my question, it's a loooonnngggg one.

My family and I frequently relocate b/c of my husband's job. We are looking at our next move in about a year. When we moved into our current house the carpet wasn't in great shape and after two years in the house, and three kids, it's no better, although not much worse. The previous owners hid a few stains that haven't come out with my Bissel Carpet Cleaner. Do I replace the carpet before I move? It will easily cost $7000 to recarpet the house (I've priced it out per square foot and even going really low end it's still a chunk of change!) and I don't think I'll ever see that money again in this market. I've thought about replacing just the rooms where the carpet is bad, however the entire house is the same exact carpet and I don't know where to stop replacing? And finally, adding to the confusion for me in this decision and without going into too much detail, my husband's company has an AMAZING relocation package and I don't have the concern of having two mortgages should we not sell. What's the best decision to make here?

Thanks!!!! Thanks for your time Terry! Thank you Elisabeth for sharing all your ideas and secret HGTV friends!

  8. Hi Elisabeth and Terry! What is your opinion on hardwood floors vs. laminate (both in terms of resale and everyday living/wear and tear)?

  9. So cool!

My question is in regards to kitchen remodels: What is the number one mistake individuals make when upgrading their kitchen and what are the top three kitchen "musts" when renovating.

    Thanks so much!

    Jen
